Asia Cup 2025 India Squads

The Asia Cup 2025 is set to begin on September 9, featuring a total of eight teams divided into two groups of four. India has been placed in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, as well as the UAE and Oman. Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. India will open their campaign against the UAE on September 10, followed by a much-anticipated clash with Pakistan on September 14. Their final group-stage match will be against Oman on September 19.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage, where six matches will be played. Based on the group stage line-up, it’s likely that India and Pakistan will meet again on September 21. The top two teams from the Super Four will progress to the final.

While India and Pakistan have already announced their squads for the Asia Cup 2025, the other six teams are yet to do so. Originally scheduled to be hosted in India, the tournament has been shifted to the UAE due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently unveiled India’s T20 squad for the Asia Cup. Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead the side, with Test skipper Shubman Gill named as his deputy. Gill makes his return to the T20I setup after a long break, having last featured in the format against Sri Lanka in 2024. Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Ravi Bishnoi have not been included in the squad. Additionally, five players have been named as standbys: Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, and Prasidh Krishna. It will be fascinating to watch and see if these names return to the squad for the upcoming cricket matches. After the Asia Cup, India will play 3 T20I series against Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. After this series, India will also host the next T20 World Cup.
