Royal Challengers Bengaluru's 18-Year Drought Finally Ends

 IPL 2025 Final

Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally succeeded in becoming the champions in the 2025 IPL. For 18 years, everyone knew that this team deserved to be the IPL champion, but every year, in the end, this team choked and got out of the tournament. For 18 years, this team reached the playoffs 11 times, reached the finals thrice, but could not win the trophy. The team had the biggest superstar of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli, for the last 18 years, who would come to the field every time to win the IPL title, but in the end would return, hiding his tears in his cap.

Legendary players like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers played for this team, but despite that, the team did not win the title. In IPL 2025, Bangalore won the hearts of its critics with its performance. They won the tournament with a tremendous performance. They won a total of 9 out of 14 matches in the league stage and finished second with 19 points. In Qualifier 1, they faced table topper Punjab Kings, where they bowled out Shreyas Iyer's team for just 101 runs and achieved the target in just 10 overs, and made it to the finals with pride. But Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings did not give up and defeated Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 to secure their place in the finals. Everyone started feeling that Punjab would definitely take revenge on RCB this time and win the title, but RCB had different intentions. In the final match, Punjab won the toss and decided to bowl first. On a pitch where Punjab had achieved the target of 204 in just 19 overs against bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Mitchell Santner in the last match, Punjab stopped RCB at a cricket score of 190/9 runs. But RCB bowlers performed brilliantly and stopped Punjab at 184 runs and fulfilled Virat Kohli's 18-year-old dream.

Virat Kohli, who has almost every trophy in the world today, has never won the IPL title to date. Virat has the highest 8661 runs in IPL history, including 8 centuries and 63 half-centuries, and this season too, he scored 657 runs by hitting 8 half-centuries and was the top scorer for his team. If seen, RCB played their best cricket this season; they defeated Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata, and Mumbai Indians in Mumbai, which they had not done for almost a decade. These are the teams that are considered the most successful teams in IPL history, but this time, RCB defeated all three teams at their home.

Now, RCB is going to play as the defending champion for the first time in IPL 2026 next year, and it will be very interesting to see how they defend their title. The best thing for this team was that this time, the batsmen of the team, as well as the bowlers, also performed brilliantly.  Bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar (17 wickets), Josh Hazlewood (22 wickets), Yash Dayal (13 wickets), Krunal Pandya (17 wickets), and Suyash Sharma (8 wickets) were included in the list of top bowlers, and the team kept getting a new match winner in every match. In the batting department of the team, too, Phil Salt, Skipper Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma, and Romario Shepherd played some match-winning innings for the team and tried their best to make their team the champion, and were successful in the end.
