Virat Kohli or Babar Azam

Do you know who is the real king of cricket? Who has ruled the game of cricket? There have always been many batsmen in cricket who got some special names from their fans. India’s Sunil Gavaskar was called Little Master by his fans. Sachin Tendulkar was given the title of God of cricket. Viv Richards was considered the real gangster of cricket by his fans. Some famous players got the title of “Sir”. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is called Thala, while people call Rohit Sharma a Hitman. But the title of King is received by Virat Kohli. In Pakistan, this special title is received by Babar Azam, but who is the real king among these two? Babar Azam of Pakistan or Virat Kohli of India.

If we look at the tats of both these players we find Virat is much better than everyone in the early stages. Virat Kohli has 81 International hundreds – 50 in ODIs, 30 in tests & 1 in T20Is. He scored 27324 runs in international cricket till now – 9230 in tests, 13906 in ODIs & 4188 runs in T20Is. His fans want Virat Kohli to break Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 international centuries record. Virat Kohli is a Chase Master. Because of him, India won countless matches across all 3 formats. Especially in the limited format, there is no comparison of Virat Kohli with anyone. In his captaincy team, India won the ICC Test mace. India reached the semi-final in the World Cup 2019. India also played WTC Final 2021 but it is also a truth in his captaincy that India faced 1st ever loss against Pakistan in a world cup match. India’s Test team looked different under Virat’s captaincy.

On the other hand, Babar Azam is known as King Babar of Pakistan. He also played some crucial and big knocks till now. If we look at Babar’s international stats, then we know he scored 14345 international runs – 4190 in tests, 5957 in ODIs & 4223 in T20Is, including 31 hundreds – 9 in tests, 19 in ODIs & 3 in T20Is.

Babar Azam was also captain of Pakistan till last year. But in his captaincy, Pakistan collapsed in all 3 formats. In the starting days of his captaincy, Pakistan became a super giant Team. In the 2021 T20I World Cup Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets for the first time in the history of World Cups. In this Match, Babar Azam scored 68* runs in 52 balls. In this World Cup Pakistan reached the semi-finals. In his captaincy, Pakistan also played the 2022 Asia Cup final, T20I World Cup final but this is also a truth Pakistan never clinched a multi-nation tournament in his captaincy. In the 2023 World Cup Pakistan were knocked out in the group stage where they lost against India, Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan. Next year, in the 2024 T20I World Cup Pakistan were knocked out in the group stage where they lost against India and USA. After the World Cup 2024, he resigned from his captaincy. He was even dropped from the team also.

Fans call their favourite players kings but last year when the RCB women’s team won the title, in a program, Virat had told his fans not to call him king.
